Compare the2025 Infiniti QX55VS 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee

For enhanced safety, the front and rear seat shoulder belts of the Infiniti QX55 have pretensioners to tighten the seatbelts and eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision and force limiters to limit the pressure the belts will exert on the passengers. The Jeep Grand Cherokee doesn’t offer pretensioners for its rear seat belts.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the QX55. But it costs extra on the Grand Cherokee.

Both the QX55 and the Grand Cherokee have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, plastic fuel tanks, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available around view monitors.

The QX55 comes with a full 4-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Grand Cherokee’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 24,000 miles sooner.

Infiniti’s powertrain warranty covers the QX55 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than Jeep covers the Grand Cherokee. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 6 years or 70,000 miles. Coverage on the Grand Cherokee ends after only 5 years or 60,000 miles.

The QX55’s corrosion warranty is 2 years longer than the Grand Cherokee’s (7 vs. 5 years).

Infiniti pays for scheduled maintenance on the QX55 for 1 year longer than Jeep pays for maintenance for the Grand Cherokee (3 years vs. 2 years).

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the QX55’s reliability 24 points higher than the Grand Cherokee.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Infiniti vehicles are better in initial quality than Jeep vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Infiniti above average in initial quality. With 13 more problems per 100 vehicles, Jeep is rated below average.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2024 Auto Issue reports that Infiniti vehicles are more reliable than Jeep vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Infiniti 13 places higher in reliability than Jeep.

The QX55’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder produces 23 lbs.-ft. more torque (280 vs. 257) than the Grand Cherokee’s standard 3.6 DOHC V6.

The QX55 has a standard locking fuel door which locks and unlocks with the power locks. The fuel filler door is not lockable on the Grand Cherokee. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank.

The QX55 has a standard continuously variable transmission (CVT). With no “steps” between gears, it can keep the engine at the most efficient speed for fuel economy, or keep it at its peak horsepower indefinitely for maximum acceleration. The Grand Cherokee doesn’t offer a CVT.

The QX55 stops much shorter than the Grand Cherokee:

For better traction, the QX55 has larger tires than the Grand Cherokee (255/45R20 vs. 245/70R17).

The QX55’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Grand Cherokee Laredo’s standard 70 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the QX55 has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 17-inch wheels are standard on the Grand Cherokee Laredo.

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires standard on the QX55 can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The Grand Cherokee doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

The QX55 Essential handles at .87 G’s, while the Grand Cherokee Overland 4x4 pulls only .60 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The QX55 Essential executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 1.1 seconds quicker than the Grand Cherokee Limited 4x4 (27 seconds @ .65 average G’s vs. 28.1 seconds @ .58 average G’s).

For better maneuverability, the QX55’s turning circle is 1.6 feet tighter than the Grand Cherokee’s (36.4 feet vs. 38 feet).

For greater off-road capability the QX55 has a greater minimum ground clearance than the Grand Cherokee (8.6 vs. 8.4 inches), allowing the QX55 to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The QX55 is 7.2 inches shorter than the Grand Cherokee, making the QX55 easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The QX55 is 7 inches shorter in height than the Grand Cherokee, making the QX55 much easier to wash and garage and drive (lower center of gravity).

The front step up height for the QX55 is 2.8 inches lower than the Grand Cherokee (17.4” vs. 20.2”). The QX55’s rear step up height is 3.7 inches lower than the Grand Cherokee’s (17.8” vs. 21.5”).

A low lift-over cargo hatch design makes loading and unloading the QX55 easier. The QX55’s cargo hatch lift-over height is 29.9 inches, while the Grand Cherokee’s liftover is 33 inches.

Pulling a handle automatically lowers the QX55’s rear seats, to make changing between passengers and cargo easier. The Grand Cherokee doesn’t offer automatic folding seats.

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Infiniti service is better than Jeep. J.D. Power ranks Infiniti 6th in service department satisfaction (above the industry average). With a 45% lower rating, Jeep is ranked 25th.

The QX55’s front and rear power windows all open or close fully with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside the car. The Grand Cherokee’s standard rear power window switches have to be held the entire time to open or close them fully.

If the windows are left open on the QX55 the driver can close them all at the outside door handle. On a hot day the driver can lower the windows from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the Grand Cherokee can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The QX55’s standard Infiniti Intelligent Key allow you to unlock the doors from any outside door handle, open the cargo door, and start the engine, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. Keyless Enter-N-Go standard on the Grand Cherokee doesn’t offer a sensor on the rear doors, so you’ll have to reach a front handle to unlock the rear door.

To help drivers see further while navigating curves, the QX55 Essential/Sensory has standard adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle. The Grand Cherokee doesn’t offer cornering lights.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Infiniti QX55 has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Wireless charging costs extra on the Grand Cherokee and isn’t available on the Grand Cherokee Laredo A.
